The Board approved the resignation of Director Mike Cummings in a special meeting held in June. Citizens who are interested in filling this newly created vacancy must submit a completed application to the Hoquiam School District Office during the month of July. To be eligible a candidate must: 1) Be a US Citizen 2) reside within the school district 3) be a registered voter.
Board meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month and are preceded by a Monday work session in the same week.

Hoquiam High School is one of twelve schools chosen in the region for the ESD 113 Schools of Distinction Award for 2013.
Schools are selected based upon five years of improvement in their performance data (measured by numeracy and literacy results on state assessments).
The Hoquiam School Board approved tighter restrictions to tobacco use on school campuses during its February regular board meeting.
The new policy restricts use of any tobacco product and any "tobacco innovation or look a like". This change will include "e-cigarettes".
The Hoquiam School Board approved a new procedure under Policy 6970, Naming Facilities that now establishes a "Wall of Distinction" recognizing individuals from our school and community who have contributed to the betterment of the district.
